There’s only a few distilleries in the world that make their spirit from scratch, let alone from grape, and the citizens of Fremantle will be lucky enough to have their very own in 2020! The Republic of Fremantle is Perth’s latest Gin-distillery plus hospitality venue that will be housed in a Fremantle port warehouse. A place for ‘citizens’ and friends to share the spirit, enjoy a meal and try their hand at crafting their very own gin at Fremantle’s first ‘Gin School’.
We were lucky enough to experience a sneak peek of the purpose-built venue and enjoyed an intimate gin-inspired lunch with some of Perth’s favourite foodies. We tasted the world-class spirits currently being distilled from the German made copper stills, and to say we were impressed would be an understatement! Crafted from South-West vineyards, the gin was absolutely divine (the best we have tasted!) – smooth with the perfect balance of botanicals, tasting even more delicious poured straight from the still. The venue has just the right amount of old Fremantle charm, ambience and intrigue, and we fell in love instantly…we promise it wasn’t just the gin talking!
As 2020 approaches, The Republic of Fremantle is gearing up to open the 350 capacity venue to the public and begin exporting the uniquely Fremantle spirits. The distillery is currently producing two new gins (plus one vodka) and working hard to share the spirit with everyone, but need a little help to package the glorious drop. They need a bottle, and that’s where you come in. You can help support this local venture by purchasing a citizen membership to join the Republic and be one of the first to taste Fremantle’s very own gin when they launch in 2020.
The three different citizenship membership tiers are available for purchase to give you local perks and help support this uniquely Fremantle spirit. Citizens will have first dips on the new spirits, an invitation to their Citizens Open Day pre-launch party (the first official Republic of Fremantle event), a custom Republic of Fremantle coin to spend during the month of your birthday, distillery tours, make your own gin experiences and more. Memberships range from $100 to $500 and we think make the perfect gift.
We joined the republic and become citizens, and we hope you do too! The Republic of Fremantle is set to release its first range of spirits in March 2020 with the hospitality venue launching soon after and we can’t wait to be part of this local story!
